About Jon
I have spent my working life watching what people do under pressure. For a long time, that included me.
It was change or die.
I started in the film business in the years when VHS turned it upside down, and went on to senior roles at Sony, MGM/UA, Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios.
Later I advised hundreds of companies, and built my own business into one worth millions. After 9/11 it imploded. It was stripped and sold to the lowest bidder.
I was exhausted, close to burnout, and still telling everyone I was fine. A friend told me to get help. For once, I listened. It was change or die.
So I went back to school. Six years of training later I qualified as a psychotherapist, and built a practice in Oxford and on Harley Street. I have sat with senior leaders and with people who had lost everything. What strikes me most is how alike they are behind the mask. Part of my own journey was filmed for the BBC series The Big Silence.
That is the work now. The fears we hide and the masks we wear to hide them. And underneath, a shadow most of us would rather not meet. I know what it is to run a company, and I know what it is to come apart. Clients tend to find both useful.
These days I am semi-retired. I live on a boat in the Greek islands and I write. I take on no more than ten clients a year, online by Zoom or Teams.
