Becoming authentically intelligent in an artificially intelligent world
We now share the world with machines that can write a love letter and mimic a voice well enough to fool your mother. They are fast. They never tire. And more and more of us feel uneasy about what that leaves for us.
My answer is the heart of my book Fear, Masks & Shadows:
“A machine can tell you what most people would do in your position. It cannot tell you what you would do, because it has never been frightened the way you are frightened, or loved the people you love.”Fear, Masks & Shadows
“Jon’s simple, yet masterful approach will enable you to gain a greater understanding of your true self, leading to greater confidence, happiness and success.”Professor Greg Whytefrom the foreword to Fear, Masks & Shadows
“EIP is very powerful, it had such a positive impact on me both professionally and personally. I’m not aware of a single person who has experienced EIP that wouldn’t agree. The only negative is I wish I had heard about it sooner!!”Stuart HolmesCEO
Being authentically intelligent means knowing your own fears and the masks you wear to hide them. It means knowing why you do what you do, even when the reason lives in the shadow you would rather not look at. In an artificially intelligent world, that is the one kind of intelligence nobody can copy or switch off.
Emotional intelligence is how we get there. It starts inside, with self-awareness and self-regard: an honest relationship with yourself, flaws included. Then it moves outward, to how aware you are of other people and how you treat them. It shows in your attitudes, and most of all in how you behave when the pressure is on.
Coaching begins with your own Emotional Intelligence profile. It covers sixteen aspects of you, showing your strengths and the areas you may want to develop. From there we work on what matters to you. Resilience. The patterns that keep you stuck. The conversation you have been putting off for months.
The decisions keep coming and the ground keeps shifting. The people who stay steady are the ones who know themselves.
